Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam, has stated that there is no division between Governor Hyacinth Alia, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State.

Suswam said the misunderstandings within the party had been resolved following a high-level reconciliation meeting held at the Government House in Makurdi, which brought together key APC stakeholders in the state.
He made the clarification during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, noting that the meeting was facilitated with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, both Governor Alia and SGF Akume publicly confirmed that peace had been restored within the party after the meeting.
“There is no division in Benue as far as I know and am concerned,” Suswam said.
APC Unity Strengthened After Reconciliation Meeting in Makurdi
The former governor, who recently won the APC Benue North-East (Zone A) senatorial primary election with 131,083 votes, said the reconciliation process helped restore unity among stakeholders.
He defeated incumbent Senator Emmanuel Memga Udende in a closely contested primary election held across Katsina-Ala, Logo, Ukum, Konshisha, Vandeikya, Kwande, and Ushongo Local Government Areas.
Suswam dismissed reports suggesting factional divisions within the APC in Benue State, insisting that he remains a committed member of the party.
“I was nominated and contested under the platform of the APC, not under any faction or individual influence,” he stated.
He added that the reconciliation meeting confirmed that all stakeholders were now working together toward party unity ahead of future elections.
Governor Alia Is the Political Leader of Benue – Suswam
Speaking further, Suswam described Governor Hyacinth Alia as the central political leader in Benue State, noting that all stakeholders must work with his leadership.
“The governor is the political father of the state as of now, so everybody must seek the support of the governor,” he said.
He emphasized that unity among APC leaders, including SGF Akume and other stakeholders, is essential for political stability in the state.
Suswam also expressed gratitude over his senatorial primary victory, describing it as a product of internal reconciliation and party consensus.
