Makurdi, Benue State — The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State for the 2027 election, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has unveiled 38-year-old medical doctor, Dr Oyije Ochaekiti Ogbenjuwa, as his running mate ahead of the governorship race.

Aondoakaa announced the choice during the party’s congress held in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, where party supporters and stakeholders gathered to witness the development.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, the PDP flagbearer outlined what he described as the major priorities of his administration if elected governor in 2027. He said his government would place strong attention on ending attacks and killings in communities across the state while ensuring the protection of lives and property.

According to him, restoring peace and security remains critical to rebuilding confidence among residents and attracting development to affected communities.
Aondoakaa also promised to revive agriculture and promote rural development, stressing that Benue must reclaim its position as the “Food Basket of the Nation.” He noted that farmers across the state deserve improved support, better infrastructure, and policies that would boost food production and economic growth.
The senior lawyer further pledged to empower youths and women through job creation, enterprise support, and economic opportunities aimed at reducing unemployment and improving livelihoods.
He added that his administration would focus on improving infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and education, while also creating a business-friendly environment capable of attracting industries and investments into the state.
Aondoakaa said his government would be built on justice, transparency, and accountability, promising inclusive leadership that would unite the people regardless of political, ethnic, or sectional differences.

The unveiling of Dr Ogbenjuwa is already generating conversations within the state’s political space, especially among PDP supporters preparing for the 2027 governorship contest.
