Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has described the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly primaries in the state as a true reflection of the will of party members and a sign of growing internal democracy within the party.

Governor Alia made this known while congratulating all successful APC flag bearers who emerged from the recently concluded primaries for National Assembly seats in Benue State.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Technical Adviser on Media Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, Alia commended the national leadership of the APC for ensuring a level playing field that made the process credible, transparent, and inclusive.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his “steadfast leadership and commitment to strengthening the party at all levels.”
The Governor further praised voters across Benue State for their active participation in the direct primaries, noting that their involvement reflects a growing political awareness and commitment to democratic decision-making.
He said the participation of party members demonstrates their desire to shape the future of both the state and the country, stressing that their choices represent accountability in leadership selection.
Governor Alia urged the newly elected flag bearers to see their emergence as a call to greater responsibility and service to the people. He advised them to prepare adequately for the general elections and focus on delivering effective representation, impactful legislation, and meaningful development to the people of Benue State.
He further charged them to remain humble, disciplined, and committed to public service, noting that citizens expect improved governance and service delivery from their representatives.
Reaffirming his administration’s readiness to work with all elected representatives, Alia pledged collaboration in advancing peace, security, and development across the state under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, chaired by Sabi’u Sa’idu Maluta, declared Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam winner of the Benue North East Senatorial seat with 131,083 votes.
It also announced ACG Benjamin Terseer Aber (Rtd) as winner of the Benue North West Senatorial seat with 93,412 votes, while Hon. Francis Ottah Agbo emerged winner of the Benue South Senatorial District with 58,780 votes.
