President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election after recording a landslide victory in the party’s nationwide primary election.

The results, announced during the national collation exercise in Abuja, showed President Tinubu pulling a massive 10,999,967 votes, defeating his only rival, Stanley Osifo, who managed 16,504 votes.
The primary, which spanned all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory across 8,809 wards, was coordinated by state governors and senior party officials who served as collation officers. They presented the results before the Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President, Pius Anyim.
Tinubu’s dominance was evident across all geopolitical zones, with overwhelming margins in both strongholds and opposition areas.
In the South-West, his home base, he recorded major victories including 814,988 votes in Lagos, 322,485 in Ogun, 181,996 in Ondo, 142,754 in Oyo, 100,888 in Osun, and 85,340 in Ekiti. His opponent, Osifo, only managed minimal figures across the region, with some states recording almost negligible or zero votes.
The North-West also delivered huge numbers for the President, with Kaduna producing 618,914 votes, Kano 500,852, Katsina 467,003, Gombe 450,517, Kebbi 292,972, Sokoto 301,000, and Zamfara 321,579.
In the North-Central, Tinubu maintained a strong lead with 310,990 votes in Kwara, 285,436 in Nasarawa, 241,720 in Plateau, 197,370 in Kogi, 175,487 in Niger, and 374,787 in Benue, while also securing 36,103 votes in the FCT, where Osifo reportedly failed to poll any vote.
The President also swept across the South-East and South-South, recording impressive figures such as 582,960 in Imo, 383,382 in Enugu, 207,579 in Ebonyi, 161,005 in Abia, and 43,034 in Anambra. In the South-South, he secured 407,646 in Delta, 389,197 in Akwa Ibom, 280,082 in Rivers, and 227,192 in Bayelsa.
At the end of collation, the figures confirmed a decisive win for President Tinubu, further consolidating his grip on the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
